Hayden's POV
"Did Evan do anything to you?" Mason asked still worried even though I told him a million times I was okay.
"He just called me a few names that was all." I said looking down at my lap. I mean it wasn't a lie. He did call me a faggot and a waste of space.
"I'm going to hurt him." Mason growled standing up. I grabbed his hand pulling him towards me. He looked at me in shock and I blushed turning my face.
"Don't say anything, please." I said not wanting to let go of his hand. He didn't try moving his hand though and I smiled.
"Fine, but if he does anything like that again he'll regret it." He said angry. I pulled Mason towards me more and I hugged him. The sudden urge to kiss him overwhelmed me. I stayed back though.
"Thank you." I whispered. Mason nodded his head and helped me off the floor. "Let's get back before people think I died." I said jokingly. Mason smiled and nodded his head.
We walked up to the table and I noticed they weren't sitting in their same spots. Evan was now sitting next to me while Jasper's other friend was forced to sit in Evans old seat.
Mason grabbed my hand getting a glare from Evan. I sat down and apologized for being gone for so long. Mason still held my hand under the table and I felt a sense of security. That quickly went away when Evan roughly grabbed my upper thigh.
~~
Mason scolded his older brother Jasper for bringing his friend Evan. I felt bad for Jasper knowing it wasn't his fault. I could tell he felt guilty though. "Mason stop, it's not his fault." I said giving Jasper a weak smile.
"He brought that asshole there!" Mason said raising his voice at me. I stared at him annoyed turning my head away from him. I'm not going to talk to him if he's angry.
I heard Mason sigh before his hand rested on my thigh. I looked back up at him to see he's a little more relaxed. "Sorry," he said calmly. "I just really hate that guy." I do too. I nodded my head understanding.
"Just please leave Jasper out of it. It wasn't his fault Evan doesn't show him his true self. Anyways he didn't hurt me or my feelings I'm used to it." I said putting my hand on top of Mason's.
Mason looked sad and so did Jasper. I can tell they feel bad for me. And I hate the stares I get from people when I'm getting picked on. That's the look I'm getting right now from them.
"Please stop staring at me like that." I said putting my head down in embarrassment. They both looked away probably embarrassed too.
"I should probably go home." I said standing up. It was awkward and I wanted to hide from the tension. Mason stood up as well and grabbed my hand before I could leave.
"Hayden, wait. You can spend the night here." He said desperately. I looked into his pleading eyes and sighed.
"Alright but I need to get some stuff at home." I said walking to the door. Jasper pushed Mason out of the way and opened the door for me. I laughed at their fighting and walked out.
"Hey can we come with? We want to get some snacks." Riley said with all his friends behind him. I smiled at Adam and he smiled back. We're acquaintances in a couple classes. He told me he was gay and secretly dating Riley.
Clearly he's not good at secrets since I barley knew him. Apparently Riley's not ready to come out yet since most of his friends are homophobes. I felt bad for him.
Jasper told them fine that they can come with. How are we all gonna fit. After embarrassingly five minuets later I ended up in Mason's lap and Riley laid on the floor in the back. It was kinda awkward because Mason didn't know where to put his hands.
I grabbed his fidgeting hands and put them around me. Jasper looked over and winked. I smiled and I could tell Mason was blushing.
Maybe he does like me..
