"This feels very Paris." Kellin says sarcastically as we walk along the side of the freeway.

I hold his hand, keeping him on my left away from the road and the incoming traffic.

"It's the best I could find. We have fuck all bridges in this town." I pout.

"I'm kidding, babe." he giggles. "I love this, I love you."

We make our way to the middle of the bridge where the freeway crosses over a river.

Kellin sighs as he looks out at the flowing river.

"It's kind of beautiful in a non-Parisian kind of way." he smiles.

"It is. It's no Pont des Arts but I like it." I agree, referencing the famous Parisian "Love Lock" bridge where hundreds of thousands of couples clipped padlocks to symbolize their love and commitment for each other.

"It's ours." he smiles, linking his fingers with mine.

I look to him and smile, unable to help myself.

"Guess we should put the lock on." I chirp.

Kellin nods, pulling the lock and key out of the picnic basket he's holding, a huge, excited grin on his cheeks.

"Oh it's so cute." he sighs, looking over the engraving we had done on the surface of the gold lock.

'Kellin +

Forever

And ever,

Always♡'

He places the basket down and I watch him open the lock with the key, then he slides it around a thin piece of railing.

"Close it with me." he beams.

I place my hands over his, ready to push the lock into place. I turn to my husband who's smiling at me, then I capture his lips as we push the lock closed.

He claps and squeals quietly, pulling away from me.

"Throw the key." I remind him as I wrap my arm around his waist.

He tosses the key over the railing and it plummets into the water below.

In all his excitement, he throws himself into my arms, wrapping his legs around my waist.

I struggle to grip him due to the sudden surprise but thankfully my adrenaline kicks in and I grasp him before he falls.

"Oh my god, be careful! You could have fallen over the railing. Then I would be a widower." I breathe still a little panicked but overcome with relief.

"I'm sorry, I'm just so happy." he chuckles, as he slides out of my arms and safely lands on the concrete.

He turns back to the lock and examines it fondly.

"Promise me that we will come back here all the time." he grins.

"Whenever you want." I tell him, kissing his cheek gently.

He sighs and looks out at the horizon, seeming content.

"We should probably go hire the canoe before sunset." he suddenly chirps, snapping out of his trance.

I agree and he grabs the picnic basket before we make our way down to the riverbank where a small canoe business is set up.

We hire the canoe and the elderly man owning the business gives us the rundown on the rules.

"Keep your life jackets on at all times. Don't rock the boat. Take all your wrappers and belongings with you when you leave. Don't crash into other canoes, this ain't bumper boats. Stay clear of the rocks. Signal for help when needed. And no hanky panky in the canoes." he explains to us as I help Kellin tighten his cute little life jacket.

I notice his cheeks tint red at the last sentence.

"Okay, think we've got it." I smile, taking the two oars from the man.

I hand him the cash and he leaves, seeming pleased with the transaction.

"You first, my love." I chirp, taking Kellin's hand.

He places a wobbly foot into the small boat and anxiously climbs in. He smiles in triumph as he sits down. I hand him the oars, then I climb in myself.

I untie the rope from the canoe and put the paddles in place before pushing off.

I've never actually canoed before but I pick it up pretty quickly and soon we're in the middle of the river.

"This is so beautiful." Kellin whispers, running his hand along the top of the water, creating ripples in the stillness.

"Almost as beautiful as you." I flirt.

He blushes and rolls his eyes before he distracts himself with the picnic basket.

He pulls out the container of fruit and the container of dipping chocolate. He selects a strawberry and then coats it in chocolate before holding it up to my lips.

I chuckle and bite into the sweet fruit. Kellin then eats the remainder of the strawberry before throwing the leafy stem into the basket.

I glance up and see the bridge in a distance and the sun setting behind it.

"The sun is setting over our bridge." I awe.

Kellin snaps his head around and another beautiful smile covers his face.

"Our bridge," he murmurs fondly.

He moves the food and basket out of the way then positions himself so he's in my lap and leaning against my chest. I give in to the urge to wrap my arms around him and then just hold him as we watch the sun set.

"I'm actually really glad we didn't go to Paris for our honeymoon." Kellin sighs.

"You are?" I frown confused.

"Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I am dying to go to Paris and we should definitely go for our anniversary. But I'm glad that we're having our honeymoon in our home town. Now we can visit all the places we went and walk down the street and be reminded of it all." he explains.

"I like the way you think." I grin, kissing his neck softly.

He closes his eyes seeming to enjoy the feeling so I don't stop.

"I feel so supported in this marriage." Kellin murmurs.

His words make me smile widely.

"What do you mean?" I ask, desperate for him to elaborate.

"I just feel like I've been holding my breath for eleven years. Even during the last year, I was still holding my breath. Now I can exhale because this feels like a permanent thing now. I know I'm always going to have you now." he explains.

I admire his candor. Last night I had to pry his feelings out of him. Today there seems to be a shift. And a couple of weeks ago he was worried about the possibility of divorce, now he knows this marriage is permanent. It just proves to me that he's finally giving me his complete trust, and I couldn't be any more grateful for that.

"You've had me for the past year though, Kells." I point out.

"I know. I guess there was always a part of me expecting you to break up with me." he admits sheepishly.

I place another kiss on his neck.

"Babe, I can assure you I am never letting you go. Ten years went by and I never let you go. You've always had me, and you always will." I explain.

Kellin looks up at me with glassy eyes and kisses my chin.

"Somehow, always doesn't feel like enough time." he whispers.

"I guess we better make the most of it then." I smile softly.

He turns around in my lap, his legs wrapped around my waist as he kisses me passionately. I hold him close to me, the picnic and the quickly disappearing sunset long forgotten.

I feel his wet tears accumulating against my cheek but I know they're not sad tears by the way he's kissing me.

Unfortunately, we're suddenly interrupted by the angry voice of an old man.

"Hey! I said no hanky panky!" he shouts at us.

I pull away from my husband laughing as he does. Through his laughter, another tear slips down his cheek, so I take the chance to slide my tongue up Kellin's face, catching his salty tear.

He squeals and tries to move away from me but I make sure to keep a gentle grip on his hips.

After he overcomes the initial shock, he begins shrieking with laughter again.

The sound of his laughter mixed with his cute scrunched up face makes me fall in love with him all over again and realize just what Kellin was talking about; always is not nearly enough time to love him.
