This place smelt weird, a few places on the wall were beginning to peel and the floorboards creaked loudly when you walked on certain boards. There was a lot of squealing going on, kids running around and playing with each other. Some of the older ones were sat on the couch, watching t.v. or on their phones. It seemed almost like your everyday middle school and high school, except for there were children and this was an orphanage.

"I'm going to talk to Miss McDougall, tell her you're here. She's definitely going to want to meet you and possibly show you to the room you'll be staying in." Sergeant McKinnon said. He drove me to the orphanage and helped with the few bags I had with me.

The orphanage was just as I expected. There were about three stories to it and there seemed to be a lot of rooms. From what I saw there was a daycare for the youngest children, mostly toddlers and babies, there was supposedly a big dining hall that fit all of the orphans inside. To my surprise there was a schooling area, I guess for the ones who needed to be home schooled or whatever, but Sergeant McKinnon said that I was still allowed to go to my school but it's be a couple of days before I could officially go back again.

"Oh, Alan, right this way." A lady, I'm assuming she's Miss McDougall, said to me, walking over with Sergeant McKinnon trailing behind.

She led me to a set of stairs and smiled widely, beckoning me to follow, which I had no other choice. We walked up the flight of stairs and to another landing where she walked forward down the hall way, passing several doors, until finally coming to one three doors down from the end. She opened up the door and revealed the door, one side neatly made while the other looked like someone just threw their things to the floor and left out to do whatever.

"You've got two roommates," Miss McDougall said, walking over to a set of bunk beds and clearing off the bottom, folding the sheets again to make them look neat before turning to me, a smile on her face. "I'm sure that they'll be back in here in a few minutes, I believe they both went out to get something to eat or whatever." She added.

I nodded and she smiled again, walking out of the room. Sergeant McKinnon stood in the doorway, looking around much like I was. He cleared his throat and looked at me, a crooked smile on his face.

"I'll see you around kid, I'm sure I'll be patrolling the streets and whatnot." He said, I chuckled.

"Thank you, for letting me stay," I mumbled, Sergeant McKinnon chuckled.

"I'd do anything to help a kid get a better life, make some better choices," he said. "Anyway, I've got to get going, gotta get back to the station. Stay out of trouble, seriously." I grinned and nodded, mumbling a goodbye as he left out. I sighed loudly and looked around.

The carpeted floor was a dark green, there was a window directly across from the door, there was one set of bunk beds to left of the door and a single bed right across from them, and a closet near the bunk beds. A desk was up against the window, holding a variety of items. There were posters on both sides of the room, supporting all types of genres of bands, especially the ones that I liked. All in all, the room was nice and warming, I actually liked it.

"Oh, you must be Alan, the new one everyone's talking about," a boy with dark hair and strange colored blue-green eyes said, a smile on his face. "Hime time, we got a roommate now," he added, sticking his head around the corner and talking to whoever. Another kid popped around the corner and walked right in, kicking off his shoes and tossing them wherever and plopping down on the single bed.

"Hime time?" I questioned, if that was really his name, it was weird.

"Yeah, well, actually real name is Jaime, but a lot of my friends just call me Hime." He said, I nodded and turned back to the dark haired boy as he spoke.

"He's really messy, as if you couldn't tell, I'm Kellin, the neat one of this room."

"You're also the biggest nerd," Jaime muttered, making me grin.

"Shut up!" Kellin groaned, walking over to the bunks and climbing to the top.

"You can either have the bottom or the floor." Jaime said, grinning. I shuffled awkwardly and sat down on the bottom bed. I didn't have any clue on what I was supposed to do, but I sat back against the wall, looking around the room.

"Oh, do you need somewhere to put your things? I think there's space in the closet for you to put your things up or in there if you want." Kellin said, hanging his head over the edge of the top bunk to look at me. I nodded and mumbled a thank you, crawling from the bed and grabbing the few bags. I walked over to the closet and put my things up, going through them to see all of the clothes, a few pictures, my phone and apparently my laptop crammed into the two bags.

I grabbed my phone, knowing there was a little bit of something I could do instead of awkwardly sitting on my bed and looking at the poster walls and carpeted floor. Sighing softly, I plopped down on my bed and began to scroll through things, figuring something out as I heard chimes coming from both Jaime and Kellin's phones. When there was nothing for me to do, I curled up and decided for a nap.

。。。

"Psst. Alan." I heard a voice whisper and my shoulder being shook. I groaned and shoved them away, trying to fall asleep again, but who ever this was, didn't give up. They shook me over and over again until I groaned loudly and opened my eyes, seeing it was Kellin with a stupid smile on his face.

"We gotta go to dinner, you have to get up." He said.

"I'm not hungry." I muttered.

"Well too bad, you have to come along to dinner either way." He said, pulling my hands and forcing me to stand. I sighed and ran fingers through my hair, following Kellin out of the room and to the first floor. We went down a hallway and turned into a large room that was the dining room or whatever, either way everyone was in here, the toddlers sat at one table while others scattered about.

"Cool, they've got pizza tonight," Kellin said, pulling me along to the front where stacks of pizza boxes were. "You want cheese or pepperoni?" He asked, handing me a plate. I shrugged, really not feeling up to eating anything, but then again I kind of was. Sighing, I grabbed a piece of both and followed Kellin to a table where Jaime was sat along with other people.

"Is this the new one?" Asked a shoulder hair length brunette. Kellin nodded and sat across from him, making me sit down beside a tall boy.

"Yeah, this is Alan," Jaime said. "This is Vic," he pointed to the shoulder hair length brunette, "this is his brother, Mike," he then pointed to the boy beside me, "there's also Austin, Phil, Tony, Alex and Jack." Jaime added, I nodded and picked at my pizza.

Halfway through dinner a tall brunette, much like Mike, walked in with a dark haired boy whose hair was just like Vic's. They sat down together, chatting happily with those around them, just like everyone else around the table. At one point Vic said something Kellin, making him blush like a mad man, which I found hilarious.

After I finished eating, I sat there, waiting. I couldn't just leave, or at least I didn't think I could, but it was funny listening to Jaime and Mike argue back and forth about whatever. Finally one of them just gave up and left from the table and dining hall.

"You did it again Hime," Vic mumbled, shaking his head. Jaime laughed and shrugged.

"Bastard should know likewise." He said.

Kellin giggled and rolled his eyes, looking over at me. He smiled and took my plate for me, disposing of what little was left before returning. I stood and so did the others. I followed him into a large living room where younger children were sat on the couch watching Spongebob.

"You don't talk much." Kellin said randomly, I gave a shrug. I hated talking to new people. Sometimes it terrified me, having to speak to them, but sometimes I was okay with it. "And why is that?" He added.

I gave another shrug and sat down on the floor beside Kellin. "Shy, I guess." I mumbled. I guess you could say I was shy, but I was also really scared I'd say something embarrassing and whoever I was talking to would never let me live it down.

"There's nothing to be shy about or anything, especially around me and the group of friends. We don't care if you're green or blue, black or white, because none of that matters, all that matters is if you're funny and cool and nice and everything in between, which I can tell you are, you've just got to get used to having an awesome roommate and weird, funny people surrounding you almost during all hours of the day, but you'll come around, you've got to at some point." Kellin said, smiling widely.

I was beginning to wonder how a nice and energetic person got to an orphanage. You would think his parents would love having a kid like this, most do, but it was a little confusing but it was only my first day here and I didn't really want the person I was going to be rooming with for God knows how long to hate me. So without another word, I looked at the t.v. and stared at it all up until Miss McDougall announced that all the little children in the room should go to bed and instructed the older ones to not stay up late considering tomorrow was school.

After a while of watching t.v. and hearing Kellin talk, we decided it was time to go to bed. We climbed up the stairs to our shared room and went to bed. Jaime was already sprawled out on his bed, fast asleep. I stared up at the bunk above me, hoping that I didn't have anymore nightmares for once, but it was all just a lie.
