Jongin
"Hey Jongin, can I talk to you for a second?" Chanyeol asked me during lunch time at school the next day.
I nodded as he sat down on the other side of the table. I waited for him to start talking, but then I saw that Byun Baekhyun sat down beside him with a big smile on his face. I frowned at him, and then glanced over at the giant. "What's going on?" I asked, which they both just smiled widely to.
"We're telling you together," he started, but Baekhyun seemed rather impatient.
"We're dating," he blurted out with a small shy giggle following after, "and we're having a date tonight."
I choked on my water I just drank from; I struggled to calm my coughing."What?" I nearly yelled, literally out of surprise, and Chanyeol glared at me.
"Don't be surprised Jongin," he said sternly, but his face transformed into the happy one he usually had with his big smile, "we want to invite our best friends to celebrate, so I was wondering if you would come along? He's also bringing his best friend."
I stared at the both of them, switching my glances between the two of them. I didn't know how to react. Was it a joke? Were they messing with me? It was possible, but judging from the happy smile and energy Chanyeol had, he looked too happy to be able to play a prank; I should've known him well enough to tell when he was pranking or being genuine.
He usually wasn't able to prank me anyways as he wasn't a good liar at all. I would've seen through him because he would've left a trace on his face if he was lying.
They must've really started dating without me realising, but what shocked me the most was the fact I had no idea Chanyeol fancied this guy. I didn't even know that he fancied males at all. Maybe I should've expected it, since he has never been interested in girls at all. Actually, I had never seen him show any romantic interest to anyone. Before now that was.
"Really?" I asked, just to be sure, and they both nodded with their happy smiles. "When did you start to like the other?" They both stiffened up, but it was mostly Baekhyun who was flushing red.
"Uhm, Jongin, let's talk about that later," he muttered and scratched his neck, which he always did whenever he was nervous or embarrassed. In this case, I thought it was both.
"Sure," I just replied, "I'll go practice."
I left and walked up to the rooftop, the same as before, where I usually would practice at school. I sometimes would skip classes because I'd rather dance than sitting still on chairs that hurt my butt as I was listening to the teachers teaching us boring stuff that I had absolute no interest in. It sucked being forced to go to school. I hated it. The only thing I was looking forward to everyday was practicing afterwards, slowly nearing my dream I've had for as long as I could remember.
I opened the door to the rooftop and expected to be alone as always, but I suddenly spotted someone further away. He also turned his head and we met each other's eyes.
"Why are you here alone?" I chatted as I approached closer and stood beside the lonely boy, leaning on the roof wall like him, glancing around for the beautiful view. I intertwined my own hands together and let the cool breeze blow through me and mess up my unsettled brown hair.
"Chosen over by a flirt," he answered shortly and I chuckled a bit at the coincidence.
"Same," I said, "my best friend and I were always together and did whatever we wanted. No one was getting in our way, but now he suddenly wanted to date someone, whom I didn't even know he was interested in and - Hey, where're you going?" I asked surprised, interrupting myself, as I saw him walking away in the middle of my sentence.
I stared at him with wide eyes and he turned around and to look back at me. "To find a place where it's quiet," he muttered with bored eyes and walked away.
He exited the rooftop, leaving me absolutely speechless at his actions. I snorted for myself shortly after as I rolled my eyes.
What a rude ass, I thought for myself, I hoped I wouldn't see him again.
There was that weird feeling about him though. He really seemed familiar somehow, like I had seen him somewhere else. He may had lived in the same neighbourhood as me, or I could've seen him elsewhere.
That's when it clicked for me: he was at the entrance when the people who passed the audition for becoming trainees. He was the guy who sat beside me, and ignored me for some reason.
I frowned to myself. I probably had to see him a lot in the future.
"There you are!" I heard the too familiar voice say, but I couldn't bother to turn around right away. I just rested my head on top of my hands that was still on the roof wall.
"Where's your boyfriend?" I asked, not really interested in knowing the answer.
"Jongin, he's not my boyfriend," Chanyeol told him, "we've just agreed on dating each other for the moment. Don't jump too far now." He also looked out on the view, and we both stood beside each other for a minute in silence.
"And how long will that last?" I asked again, "after one or two dates, and eventually you'll fall for each other and become a couple?" I spat.
Chanyeol frowned at me. "Why are you so grumpy about this? I thought you'd be happy for me," he muttered sadly, which I snorted to.
"Of course I am!" I yelled, suddenly going from being mad to happy. "I'm so fucking happy for you Chanyeol. The boy with the dreams of meeting his soul mate is about to come true." I stopped for a moment as I realised something. "Wait a minute, there was one thing you forgot to tell me," I started, earning a curious stare from the taller one, "you didn't even tell me you're gay!"
He flinched at my words, but his expression softened. "I'm sorry about that. I didn't find out until a couple of months ago, and I was gonna tell you - promise - but I was afraid you wouldn't want to be my friend anymore because you'd think I'm disgusting," he said with a sad tone, which made me softened up my expression.
"I'm not your friend," I started off, making him stare at me worriedly at first, "I'm your best friend Chanyeol. Something like that would never come in between us."
He smiled, but then he looked apologetic again. "I'm really sorry. Ever since I found out, I somehow noticed Baekhyun in some sort way. If I would have to say someone was my type, it'd be him. Whenever I talk to him, he's similar to me, and he always found a way to make me smile. I didn't realise at first, but I took an interest in him, and yesterday, when we walked together home after school, he asked me out.
"I had to calm myself to not be over excited as I accepted. He told me he had liked me for a while, but just didn't know if I would like him back or not," he explained and I somehow felt sad. How come I'd never notice stuff like that? Was our friendship growing away? Were we growing apart from each other? Maybe I was focusing too much of myself and my dancing I was completely blinded by my best friend's life, even love interests.
"Promise me one thing," I started, and he smiled whilst looking at me.
"Anything."
"Don't ditch me over some...boy," I hesitated on the last word because that's not what I'd usually say, but he always replied the same thing.
"Never."
"You don't belong here!" I heard someone yell as I was walking in the hall to find an empty room to practice. I approached closer where I heard the yelling and secretly tried to see whom the people were. "Get lost you dwarf!" yelled the same voice.
I glanced at the mean people. I spotted a tall guy with some friends behind him with a smaller guy in front of him. When I tried to focus on who they were I recognised the smaller male.
It was the Rude Ass. I ran up to them and stepped in between them.
The bully wasn't that much taller than me, but his face was scary to look at. I wasn't scared myself though, but I could imagine the little guy pissing his pants.
"Really? Are you bullying someone who's smaller than you? How low is that?" I smirked at the last sentence and the guy looked pissed at my remark. "Look, I don't want to fight, so why don't you just get lost, yeah?" I threatened with my glare, which made the other back away slowly.
"Let's go," he said to his friends as they disappeared, "don't think we're done with you."
"You're pretty luckily, little guy," I smirked as I turned around towards him; he just glanced up at me like he had just noticed me in front of him. He seemed pretty uninterested and I was a bit surprised by his gaze. "You're not hurt, are you?" I asked just in case I was a bit too late for the fight. He glanced around to look at this body, like he was checking to see if he was hurt rather than feeling it.
I frowned slightly, but still waited for him to respond. It was obvious he was okay, since he had to look at his own body.
"I'm fine," he said, and then walked pass me. He seemed to have been practicing in the room that was right behind us since he seemed to have his clothes and a water bottle inside by the door.
"Hey, are you just walking away?" I asked, surprised by his sudden action.
He turned around with a small hint of a glare. "Do you want me to thank you?" he asked, which I flinched to. No doubt he's still the Rude Ass. "You didn't need to interrupt. Don't ever do it again."
"Calm down mate, I was just trying to help," I frowned at him, but he didn't seem to care on bit I was still in the hallway as he drank from his water bottle.
"Sometimes when people want to help, they're just making it worse," he said, "don't interfere again." He's talking pretty highly for someone who couldn't defend himself and looked totally hopeless. How could I not had interfered?
"Fine, whatever," I muttered as I walked away.
He really was not a polite person at all, and he even went to my school, and I hated the idea that we kept on running into each other.
I went from practice and right to the restaurant, where I was meeting Chanyeol, Baekhyun and the friend he was bringing.
I was incredibly hungry and tired - and sweaty on top of that. I wasn't really looking forward to the meeting, and I didn't bother how I looked or what they'd think of me. I just wanted to eat and get the night over with. I was just doing it for Chanyeol anyways, not myself.
"Yo Jongin," I heard Chanyeol yell and raised his hand when I entered the restaurant. I made my way towards their table and sat down beside Chanyeol. The seat beside Baekhyun was still empty, which meant his friend still hadn't arrived yet.
"Yo," I greeted as I took off my jacket.
Chanyeol frowned as he leaned closer towards my ear. "You didn't even bother to shower? Come on mate, I'm on a date," he whined silently, "don't you want him to like you?"
"Do you know how much I'm starving?" I asked with a sarcastic tone and opened the menu.
"The pizza here is pretty good," Baekhyun suggested, making me glance up at him.
"Doesn't that make me fat?" I joked, which made his body stiff by my response. He probably thought I found it offending. But I surely couldn't gain much weight when I was a trainee.
"T - The salad is absolutely extraordinary," he said again, more nervous than ever, but I just chuckled at him. I was way too hungry to think of my weight at the moment.
"I'll take an Hawaiian Pizza," I said to the waitress near our table, "and a glass of water." She nodded in my direction and noted it down on her block.
"We'll wait for a bit," Chanyeol said when she glanced at the two of them. "How can you order when we're still waiting for someone?" he asked as he stared at me with a disapproving frown.
"Excuse me, but do you want me to die whilst waiting for someone I haven't even met yet?" I asked sarcastically with a frown, making him roll his eyes at me.
"Do whatever you want." He gave up, which I smiled satisfied to. I had gotten my water and we heard some footsteps coming closer from behind.
"Ah, finally!" Baekhyun yelled happily and stood up. "Kyungsoo, over here!"
He was waving both of his hands, not only getting his friend attention, but also every single person in the restaurant.
I didn't bother to turn around and just waited for Baekhyun's friend to reach our table, and then sitting down beside the said male.
I glanced upwards to look at him when I still had water in my mouth from drinking, but I managed to accidentally spray it all over him as I was so surprised to see him, and he was soaked in water - and my salvia not to mention.
