Reid's POV
"Dude, don't tell me you're nervous." Garret asked me.
"What? Me, no. I wouldn't be." I told him, waving him off. But of course I was nervous. "Of course I'm nervous dammit. This is a big deal Garret." He nodded.
"Yeah, I know."
"Do you think Dakota is nervous?"
"Uh yeah." I smiled. I knew he probably looked beautiful in that tux. I was excited to get to the front of that isle so he could walk to me.
"Reid and Dakota Lawson... That's going to sound amazing Garret." He grinned and I hugged him. "I'm so happy we made it. He's all I ever wanted. I love him more than anything G." At one point, I thought it was because he was all I had. But he isn't, and I still love him more than anything. "Let's get this show on the road." He laughed and patted my back. We were now 22 years old fresh out of college. Dakota was an elementary school teacher and he loved his job. I had a job as an electrical engineer at a nice company.
"Alright, let's get out there man." I went to the front, near the pastor. The whole baseball team came out together instead of bridesmaids and groomsmen. They were the groomsmen. Garret was my best man and Ethan was Dakota's best man.
The doors opened and Dakota and his father walked down the isle. I grinned widely. He was even more handsome that I'd thought he'd be.
They stopped at the end and I took Dakota's arm.
"Wow, you look hot babe." He told me. I laughed.
"You might just be a tad bit hotter." He grinned and shrugged.
"Maybe." We both laughed and stood in front of the officiant.
"Ready?" He asked us. We both nodded and he smiled. "Friends, we have joined here today to share with Dakota and Reid an important moment in their lives. Their time together, they have seen their love and understanding of each other grow and blossom and now they have decided to live out the rest of their lives as one." I grinned at Dakota and he smiled cheekily squeezing my hand.
Mrs. Shea wrote the next part. It was a sort of prayer, talking about the joining of two people. I didn't pay much attention to it. She'd read it out so many times trying to make sure it was the right thing to say. But the minister read it out perfectly and by the look on her face, she was satisfied.
"At this time, the grooms will state their vows. I was told they've both written them out." We nodded and Dakota clearness his throat.
"Reid, I know I say I only say nice things to you to make you feel better, but I lied." Everyone laughed. "I actually meant it. I love you more than anything. I was always confident, but weirdly enough, you made me even more so. I feel beautiful and loved with you, and I wouldn't rather spend my life with anyone else. I'm truly lucky to have you baby. I know we'll work through any problems and be together forever." I kissed his cheek and he smiled widely but sighed. "You aren't supposed to kiss me yet."
"Well, I broke the rules." We laughed and I looked him in his eyes. "Dakota, you made my life better than I ever expected it to be. It was horrible before we began talking, but as soon as you pushed your way into my life, it turned around. You made me realize that the bad things aren't always so bad. You made me a man. I'll love you forever for that. I can't wait until your officially my husband, and I am yours. You always say it and you're right, we'll be together forever baby. I won't let anything tear us apart." His eyes began to water and he shook his head.
"Dammit Reid." He mumbled, laughing, I wiped his tears and he sighed.
"It is time for the exchange of rings." I repeated after the minister.
"With this ring, I marry you and bind my life to yours. It is a symbol of my eternal love, my everlasting friendship, and the promise of all my tomorrows." I slid the ring onto Dakota's finger and he sighed in content.
"With this ring, I marry you and bind my life to yours. It is a symbol of my eternal love, my everlasting friendship, and the promise of all my tomorrows." Dakota repeated and slid the ring on my finger. My grin got wider, my mouth was hurting, but I couldn't stop. I was excited.
"Do you, Reid, take Dakota to be lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do." I answered, quickly.
"Do you, Dakota, take Reid to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do." He answered just as fast.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husbands. You may kiss the groom." I pulled Dakota close and kissed him passionately.
"I love you so much Mr. Lawson." I told him. He wiggled his eyebrows.
"Ohh, you're talking to me, are you?" I laughed and kissed him once more.
~
Dakota and I moved away from the small town we were at. Mr. and Mrs. Shea, now called Mom and Dad by me, moved with us. They didn't live with us, but they lived in the same town.
We adopted two kids, a boy and a girl. It took forever for us to get the first one. I think it was because we're a gay couple. But, soon enough, we were able to adopt and we got the boy first. After him, it was easier to get the girl.
Their names are Connor and Jenna. Connor is three years older than Jenna. They're the most beautiful kids you'd ever see, well they are to me.
"Do you love our life?" Dakota asked me one morning as he put his clothes on.
"I couldn't have imagined a better one baby." I wrapped my arms around his waist, kissing his neck. He sighed and leaned into me.
"Me either. I love the kids, I love you, and I love my job." He'd just gotten his masters, which allowed him to become vice principal of the school he worked at. I turned around and looked at Jenna who was peaking at us over her crib. I smiled, she was two now, and a smart baby.
As soon as she saw me look at her she began to cry. I shook my head and went over, picking her up. She stopped as soon as I did and stared at me.
"You think you're smart huh?" I asked her. She hummed and laid her head on me, sucking her thumb. Connor walked into the room, looking around.
"I heard Jenna crying." He reached up to hold her and I gave her to him. She was way too big for him, but he loved to hold her. Dakota laughed, watching us amused.
"Connor." She blabbed out, playing with his face. I laughed and Dakota shook his head. "I want juice!" She told him and he looked at Dakota.
"Daddy?"
"If you give her to me, I'll bring her downstairs and you can give her her juice and help her eat her breakfast." I'd already fed Connor, and he usually went to school with Dakota.
He nodded and Dakota picked up Jenna.
"Bye Connor." She said, waving at him. I laughed and me and Connor followed them downstairs.
After everyone finished, Connor and Dakota got ready to leave. I got Jenna ready and bent down to Connor.
He hugged me tightly.
"Love you Daddy!" I smiled and kissed his cheek.
"I love you too." I ruffled up his hair and stood up. I kissed Dakota and hugged him. "I love you baby."
"I love you too. Drive safe, and don't forget to get groceries today. Jenna, don't let Daddy forget to get groceries."
"Gocies! Daddy get gocies!" I laughed and he kissed her. She wiped it and kissed his cheek. They left and I put Jenna in the car seat. I got in the car and looked back at her.
"Ready to go?"
"Ready to go Daddy!" I smiled and backed out, immensely happy with how my life turned out. It could ONLY get better from here.
