"So, that party tonight," Brett said, but Liam knew it was more of a question.
It was now Friday and Liam and Brett have been talking a lot. People were actually starting to think they were secretly dating or something-but that was only a few people who have nothing better to do with their lives than gossip and spread rumors.
"Yeah, I guess I'll meet up with you after practice. Are we going straight there?" Liam asked.
Brett nodded.
"Alright. I guess I'll see you after practice," Liam said as he shut his locker. His next class was lunch. Brett followed him, talking about something or another.
"Liam, there you are!" He heard. Liam turned around to see Mason. Once he saw Brett next to Liam, his smile faded slightly, but it was still there.
"You guys are like a married couple, aren't you?" Mason joked.
"Not exactly," Brett joked.
Liam rolled his eyes.
"Is it okay for Brett to sit with us today?" Liam asked.
Mason nodded, "yeah, c'mon."
The three boys walked over to a table with a few other guys. Mason sat across from Liam and Brett sat next to Liam.
"So, Brett. You and Liam are good now, yeah?" Mason asked.
Brett nodded.
"It's all about forgiving and putting things in that past, right?" Brett asked.
"Yeah," Liam answered.
Liam poked as his food as the boys at the table talked to each other.
*Liams pov*
I continued to play with my food; I wasn't very hungry.
I was listening to the conversation Mason was having with another guy at the table when I felt a hand slightly above my knee. I looked over at Brett, obviously confused. He has a smirk plastered on his face as he slid his hand up further.
I tensed up and held my breath.
"Liam? Liam, you okay?" Mason asked.
"What? Sorry.." I said.
Mason laughed weakly.
"Are you okay? You look a little pale," Mason commented.
I nodded.
"I'm perfect. Thanks," I convinced him.
He nodded and turned back to the boy next to him.
I shot a glare at Brett.
"Stop it!" I whisper shouted.
His hand slid right over my crotch and he began rubbing.
I bit my lip hard to keep quiet.
"Take your hand off right now Brett," I said as I tried to move his hand off, but he didn't budge.
"Or what?" He grinned.
"Or I'm not going to party with you. I'll just go with Hannah Jones," I replied back.
Brett gritted his teeth.
"Fine. But don't pretend you didn't like that," Brett said, signaling down.
He got up and smirked.
"I'll see you later," Brett said as he got up.
I looked down at my pants.
Brett was right.
I liked that..?
I sighed and put my tray away a few minutes later, heading to my 7th hour class.
This was art class-and the only class I didn't have with Brett.
I tired to focus, but I couldn't stop thinking about what just happened. Did he like me?
Was he just messing with me, getting my hopes up? Either way, it worked. I couldn't get him out of my head.
The last two classes, I avoided Brett.
I needed time to think about this.
--
Finally, practice time came. Coach had us run three laps around the track, then we played two games.
I caught Brett glancing at me more than once, but I tried my best to ignore him. He must've just done that to mess with me. Brett wouldn't like me, would he?
Coach blew his whistle and that meant the two hour practice for today was up.
I got changed out of my lacrosse jersey and into my outfit for a party. A simple black shirt and dark jeans.
Brett came up to me when I was putting my shirt on.
"Hey, what's up? Ever since lunch you've been distant," Brett said.
I didn't know what to say.
"No, I haven't. I was just busy with homework," I denied.
"How much could you have on a Friday?" Brett asked.
"We'll, I didn't get it done last night. We going?" I asked. He nodded.
*Brett's pov*
I knew I shouldn't have done the whole lunch-incident.
"Yeah, let's go," I said.
We walked outside, backpacks hanging off of our shoulders.
"You can put your bag in the back," I said as I unlocked my car.
Liam nodded.
Once we began driving, it was pretty quiet-except for the music that was playing.
Liam sighed.
He quickly turned the music off and left us in silence. I looked over at him, then glanced back at the road.
"What was that, at lunch? You can't just do something like that and forget about it," he said, his voice slightly raised.
I kept looking at him, then the road, then him.
"Friends with benefits can," I winked, then laughed.
"Just kidding, relax," I said as he sighed again.
"Are you even gay?" Liam asked.
"Bi, actually," I replied. He nodded.
"Well, I'm not!" Liam said.
Ouch.
"Alright. That's okay," I said.
*3rd person pov*
That's okay? Liam thought.
"But.. I don't know how I feel about you," Liam said.
"What does that mean, then?" Brett asked.
By this time, they were pulling into the driveway of the party.
"I don't know yet.." Liam said.
He opened his door and shut it once he was out.
It was the typical high school party.
Music that you could hear from outside, lots of people scattered around, and those red cups in everyone's hand.
Brett went up to one of his friends and gestured Liam over.
"Zane, this is Liam," Brett said.
Liam smiled.
"Hi," he said.
"Well, I gotta go find Vee, see you around," Zane said to both of the boys.
"C'mon, let's go inside," Brett said and Liam followed.
There were a lot of people. Liam saw a few familiar faces here and there.
"Wanna go get a drink?" Liam asked.
"Yeah," Brett replied as they walked over to the far end of the house, the kitchen.
They both grabbed a drink from the cooler.
"Brett!" Someone called out.
*Liam's pov*
Brett turned around to face a girl with dark red hair and few tattoos and piercings.
"Hey, Bradley. What's up?" He asked.
"Can you and your friend play a game with us?" She asked as she moved to the side to show a few other people.
"Uh, sure. What game?" Brett asked.
"We'll decide that when we get upstairs, c'mon," she said. Brett and I followed her upstairs and into a room.
