(Michael's house)
He walked into this store with blinding lights and a bunch of food, is this what people call a grocery store? I looked as he walked in front of the door as it opened by itself and he grabbed a green plastic basket. The door closed making me lose sight of Michael and I was forced to soon followed him inside.
Until today this was my first time entering a place like this and I would say it wasn't a very pleasant experience. The light was so blinding I was wondering how people even shop here. Don't even get me started with the inside, it was ridiculously cold maybe even colder than outside and it smelled rotten.
I can't let myself be distracted by this disgusting place that is meant to store food, it was Michael I came in here for.
I was walking through the place sneakily and after a few seconds, I found him. He was swinging his basket as he walked into one of the last aisles. I was hesitant to actually continue following him, I really didn't want to risk being seen in such a low-class place.
I swallowed my pride though and just kept on observing Michael. I duck down and hurriedly made my way to the last aisle that was so cold, it seems like he was in the freezer section. Behind the shelves, I watched his every move.
He picked up some meat and observed it, shaking it. I had no idea why he did all those things, but once he turned around to see the price of it he immediately put it right back and got a lump of meat that looked worse than the one he already had.
I thought, "Why did he do that?" I don't understand his actions.
Once he left the area and into the next aisle I took a quick look at the price of the meat and it only read €8. How could he even think this was too much?
I thought back to how much meat costs at my house. I think I remember some servants saying that our meat was more than 44 or something. So I couldn't understand why.
And all the other items he picked up was well under €6 each. When he got to the check out the place the lady said it would be €34 and I laughed at how cheap that was. But then Michael pulled out this book thingy and took out lots of paper and handed it to the lady.
She then rang it all up and now the thing said it was only €15 now. Michael looked visibly disappointed but still handed the lady the money. I just sat there sticking my head out from one of the aisles in shock, what is this, what did he just do to make it go down so much.
And why in the world does he look sad about that?
I followed him out of the store and walked behind him, still making sure he doesn't catch me "stalking" him. He then turned into a street and continued walking into it and made more turns into another alleyway. I still followed him and was speechless.
He entered a building that looked a little run down. It was starting to get darker and I was about to leave and go back to my house. I didn't feel safe here and wanted to leave as soon as possible.
The door of the building opened again and out came Michael, but not alone. Four other small kids came out.
"Hey Mike, are we going home now." A little girl asked walking beside him, holding his hands.
He looked down at the little girl with long wavy brown hair just like his, "Yes, we are." He said back with a warm smile. I have never seen him make that face before.
"What are we eating big bro?" A boy said tugging at the end of Michael's shirt. He had a similar face just a less mature one of course.
"We are eating some meat and veggies." He happily said raising the bags he was carrying, showing them.
"Wait we are having meat tonight!" They all said excitedly, and I could have sworn that I saw a glow in their eyes.
Michael nodded with such a big smile on his face, "Yeah the grocery store had a good deal and it's been a good month since we last had some." He said grabbing one of the boys and throwing him on his shoulders as they all cheered.
I thought, "What you guys haven't had meat in a month!!"
As I was thinking this the five of them took off and started to walk away from me. How can someone walk this much, they didn't use a car, a bus, or even a taxis. I felt bad for them but, I still observed them.
They stopped in front of another beaten-down building or rather a house. Michael pulled out keys and unlocked what seemed to be a gate for the actual door. To me, it seemed like a prison the windows had bars, the garden, or at least what was supposed to be one was withering away and the soil was dry and dirty. He took out a different key and unlocked two locks on the actual door. He walked in and the other four following right behind him.
I stared aimlessly into the caged windows as lights turned on, but I came back to my senses.
How can someone change so much from the way they are in school, he seemed so nice and caring towards his siblings. Why does his personality just take a full 180 with me? I looked up at his house and saw small silhouettes running around the place.
Was this the reason why he can't afford the uniform? Wait...if he doesn't have money then how in the world is he even that smart. Before this, he must have been in like a one-star school. So how?
The sun had set and the streetlights were turned on. That was my cue to start heading back home. Who knew what these poor people would do with a higher statue person like me. All the thoughts that came to mind were just terrible and too horrible to say it out loud.
So I walked quickly home making sure to stay near the light at all times. Or that's what my servants say to do when I'm still out when the sun went down.
I finally made it back home but let me tell you that was some workout Michael made me do. I couldn't ask my personal coach to pick me up cause he would tell my parents where I was and that wouldn't help me too much.
So I ended up walking a good 20 minutes and went straight up to my room. I quickly throw my clothes off and ran to take a nice warm bath to get all those poor people germs off.
Once I got out of the shower and into my PJs I couldn't help but shiver at the fact that I associated myself in such a disgusting environment for so long. Even though I may say this I know deep down that I was finally seeing a new side to the world and how exciting that was.
A world where they do everything they need to do, and not force others to do it for them. I don't know why this is something special to me but, I find it different in how they can control their own stuff. But at the same time why would I want to do those stuff when I could just not waste my valuable energy on useless things.
I get my servants to do everything for me and I even have myself a nice, comfy bed to sleep the night away. As I was going to close my eyes a thought came to my mind.
How did Michael sleep in such a tiny house with so many people living in it? Does that house have like a super spacious basement that has separate rooms for each of them? Or do they....share rooms? Oh my god, the horror. I can't even begin to imagine that, how bad would that be.
