"So Lucas, how was school today?"

"Fine" We were currently sat around the dining room table, eating dinner. The movie happened to be one I'd seen before but I stayed and watched it with them because Dad was right, we hadn't gotten off early from work in a long time and I enjoyed spending time with him.

"So when do we get to meet this friend of yours?" My eyes nearly popped out of my head from my mother's question and I tried my best not to show how worried I was, that proved to be harder than expected but at least I managed not to stutter.

"Uh I don't know, he's not really good around new people"

"Nonsense, that's a part of life son. Invite him over for dinner" Oh no, dad not you too. What am I going to do?

"I really don't think that's a good idea"

"Well I think it's a great one, he can come over Friday"

"Mum pleas-"

"Friday would be perfect, it's my day off" My dad intersected.

Crap! What in the world was I going to do?

We finished up dinner and I approached my parents who were currently washing up the dishes left over from our meal.

"So, uh. Do you guys think I could go over to Jasper's now?"

I saw my mother frown, which wasn't a good sign but my dad was here so maybe I'd get lucky?

"It's kind of late, don't you think?"

"He doesn't live too far and I won't stay out long"

"Hmm, I don't know"

"Let him go, honey. We've kept him from his friend for long enough"

"Fine but be back by 10"

I couldn't help the smile that formed on my face, neither did I try. "Thanks guys" I said, hugging them both.

"Love you!" I yelled as I walked out the door, making sure I had my phone and the one I was going to give to Jasper on me.

"Love you too!" They both shouted in response as they continued washing up.

The night was cold, causing me to pull my jacket further around my body. I didn't bother going the long way around this time and instead made straight for the hill. I climbed to the top and once again had to stop to catch my breath.

The house was quiet as usual as I walked around the side of the house, making my way to the back door. I pushed it open and stepped inside, the entire house was cold apart from Jasper's room, it was warm in there thankfully.

I stumbled up the rotted stairway and knocked on Jasper's door.

Silence...

Hmm where is he? I pushed on the door and it opened, revealing Jasper's room. I entered and was surprised to see him asleep in bed. Who sleeps this early?

Damn, I was hoping to talk to him. He wouldn't mind me sticking around would he? I don't want to head back home just yet. Deciding he probably wouldn't mind if I stayed I slipped off my jacket and took a seat on the chair with the desk next to the door. Hmm now what? I suppose I could read and that's just what I did.

About an hour had passed when I heard Jasper move, he'd rolled over in his bed, his eyes still closed. He looked so innocent and at peace when asleep, watching his was soothing. What are you doing, Lucas? Don't be a creep! I pulled my eyes away from Jasper and continued reading my book.

Another hour passed by and I was debating going home when I heard him speak.

"Lucas?" His voice was hoarse from sleep and scared the crap out of me because I was consumed in my book at the time.

"Hey, I hope you don't mind. I saw you were asleep and I didn't want to wake you but I didn't want to go hope either" I responded, sheepishly as I ran my fingers through my hair, avoiding eye contact.

"I don't mind" He sat up in his bed and watched me, I wonder what was running through his head.

"I'm sorry I didn't come over yesterday, my mum insisted I stayed home so she could keep an eye on me"

I watched as his eyes fell to the bed, what was he thinking about?

"It's fine, how are you doing?" His eyes returned back to me as he waited for my response.

"Better, the pain has faded but the bruises still look pretty bad"

"Bruises?"

"Bruises" I nodded.

"Plural?"

"Oh. Yeah..." Instead of explaining, I just lifted my shirt, showing off the purple-brown marks that covered my stomach and I heard his gasp. I looked up to see his approaching me slowly.

He stood in front of me and brought his hand forward, tenderly running his finger over the marks.

Badump

Why must he do this to me? I tried to stop myself from blushing but failed miserably. If he noticed he didn't say anything but then again his eyes were still transfixed on my stomach, his fingers grazing over the bruising and leaving sparks behind that burned my skin.

Please stop...

"Why would somebody do this?" His voice was soft and broken, making me stare up at him in shock. I stood from my seat making Jasper pull his hand away and I pulled my shirt back down.

"Some people have a lot of bad stuff happening in their life and they all deal with it differently. Some results to bringing pain upon others and I just happened to be in the crossfire. But I'm okay, Jas" I placed my hand on his shoulder and gave him a small smile to prove it.

His gaze fell on mine and he looked kind of shocked that's when I noticed he was blushing. Huh?

I dropped my hand from his shoulder and ran my fingers through my hair.

"I uh got you something" I said reaching into my pocket and pulling out the phone in hopes to rid the awkwardness that had fallen upon us.

I handed the phone over to him and he gingerly took it before looking at me in confusion.

"It's my dad's old phone, he has no use for it anymore and well you don't have one so..."

"What should I do with it?" He held the phone like it was precious but at the same time like it was alien. It was amusing to watch and a smile crawled onto my face.

"Well you can text me now"

"What for?" Okay...not the response I was expecting, I have to keep reminding myself he's new to all this.

"Uh, just in case you need something or you know? You want somebody to talk to"

"Oh, okay. How often can I message you?"

"You can message me as much as you like"

"You won't get annoyed?"

"Nah, feel free to message whenever you want, just don't expect me to always reply straight away."

"Why not?" Such a strange guy...

"Because I might be at school or busy with family or sleeping"

"Oh, okay. How does it work?"

"Well it's already turned on and you're on the home screen now so you just use the arrows to click the envelope and that will take you to your messages. And then all you have to do is create a new message, using this button here. I already put my number in the phone so you just click on my name and then you just type. It's an old phone so you have to press the buttons. You see how you have 3 letters on each button?"

"Yeah"

"Well you press the button one time if you want the first letter, two times if you want the second letter and three times if you want the third letter. Give it go"

I watched as Jasper slowly started pushing buttons to type out a message, it took him a while to get the hang of it but he pretty much got it down.

"Now what?"

"Now you hit this button here and it will send it" He did as I said and I pulled out my phone just as it vibrated and showed Jasper the message he had just sent now on my phone.

Jasper suddenly smiled brightly and threw his arms around me, hugging me. It was the last thing I ever expected him to do and it did weird things to my body and mind.

Badump

He felt perfect in my arms as I hugged him back. His scent assaulted my nostrils and I found myself inhaling his scent more, damn he smelt amazing. I felt Jasper bury his face into my shoulder and I found myself never wanting to let go. I was sad when he pulled away and I watched his movements. He was embarrassed, his cheeks were red and he was avoiding my eyes.

"Uh s-sorry" He stuttered, still not looking at me properly.

I don't know what came over me in that moment but I wanted him to stop avoiding my eyes so I carefully took hold of his chin and turned his face towards me, watching as a shocked expression form on his face. He was still blushing and my heart was beating like crazy.

I really wanted to kiss him.

Badump

Crap! Snap out of it Lucas! But there was no stopping me as I leant forward, slowly, still watching his reactions. His eyes were wide, his cheeks flushed pink but he didn't pull away. I moved closer until there was only a hair length between our lips and I saw him gulp.

I'm sorry, Jasper but I just can't help myself. With that one last thought I closed the distance and pushed my lips against him. My head swam with desire at the feel of his soft lips against my own. I kissed him slowly, being careful not to freak him out. I tried to keep my eyes open as to watch his reaction, which was currently shocked from the way his eyes bulged but I soon realized that wasn't possible and my eyes fell shut.

His lips stayed frozen against mine as I kissed him, gently. He didn't kiss me back for the longest time but suddenly his lips moved with mine and I was floating on cloud 9.

I moved my lips slightly rougher against his and I heard him let out a soft moan. I think it kind of freaked him out a little as the next thing I know, he's pushing me away. His cheeks were flushed red and he looked kind of...scared?

"S-s-sorry"

"No I'm sorry. I shouldn't have kissed you" My cheeks were also alight and I avoided eye contact with him, feeling incredible guilty.

"N-no! I l-liked it" I didn't think it was possible for Jasper to go any redder but I was wrong and I found myself smiling.

"You did?"

"Y-yes"

"I liked it too" His head sprung up fast, he looked at me shocked before the smallest smile took place on his face.

"Crap! Jas, I have to go." I felt guilty for leaving him right after kissing him but I promised my mum I'd be back by 10.

"Oh okay" He looked so sad, my heart almost broke.

"But I'll see you tomorrow, yeah? And now you have a phone so you can message me whenever you like" My words seemed to cheer him up as he remembered the phone that was now sitting on the bed. He smiled slightly as he nodded.

"Thank you, Lucas"

Badump

Really? All he had to do was say my name and my heart went wild.

"See you later, Jas" I quickly kissed him on the cheek before leaving the room. It felt like the right thing to do and to be honest I just wanted to touch him again, even if it was just with a peck on the cheek.

I was so gone.

*****

When I got home I realized I completely forgot to tell Jas about dinner Friday night. He was going to freak, I know he was but for the life of me I couldn't think of a way out of this.

I could message him. Nah, this is something I had to do in person. I'll tell him tomorrow when I go round again.

I fell back on my bed feeling like a teenage girl who's crush just talked to them. Sigh, I'm pathetic. I can't help it though, Jasper just does these things to me and he doesn't even know it. I can't believe I kissed him, I can't believe he kissed me back. I don't regret it though, it was amazing. That was my first kiss, I realized as I stared up at the ceiling. I'm 100% sure it was his first kiss too. I stole his first kiss.

I don't know what Jasper was doing to me but I was acting like a complete girl.

I rolled over in bed, ready to go to sleep when my phone vibrated on my bedside table.

1 new message

'Goodnight, Lucas!'

I grinned wide as I read the message over and over again. See what I mean, like a teenage girl in love...love? No, definitely not. It's too soon for that. Pushing that thought from my mind I sent my reply.

'Goodnight, Jasper!'

Sending the message, I placed my phone back on the bedside table before rolling over and falling asleep, my mind filled with thoughts of Jasper but this time I didn't fight them.
