**DISCLAIMER**
This story is being edited, updated, bettered and probably made longer, we'll see. This version is now old and unedited so I want to give it a polish. However it will no longer be on this account, I will inform anyone who is interested on where they can find the new, updated version once it is completed. For now, I would like to probably keep it for Halloween this year but you may get it early if I decide I want to dedicate a different story to Halloween, it's a time of year that I love dearly so maybe I might come up with something new and find the time to write it. For now thank you for being patient and I hope to see you guys soon.
Love and Peace and all that jazz <3

Nobody knew why people avoided the old abandoned house at the top of the hill, nor did they wish to find out. They simply ignored its existence, it was as if it wasn't really there. It was kind of like a illusion that kept the neighbors guessing but nobody was brave enough to trek the hill to the house that stood crooked, old and grey. But it is Halloween and at Halloween it's a tradition to dress up and go trick or treating or attend parties with people dressed as werewolves and vampires and let's not forget design and visit haunted houses. But the idea of exploring this particular possibly haunted house didn't even occur to the residents of this small town.
*Briiiiiiiing*
Students rushed up from their desks, scrambling for the door. Paper being discarded on tables, some being knocked causing the paper to slowly flutter to the ground. The roar of students heavily filled the hallway as they all made way to their lockers in order to dispose of their books and make their way home.
Halloween was Tomorrow. If it weren't for all the pathetic jokes and scares everyone pulls on me I'd probably enjoy the holiday. But alas no rest for the wicked, huh? That's why instead of depositing my books into my locker like the other students I kept walking for the front doors of the school, not wanting to find out what awaits me inside of my locker. Like I said, pathetic.
I make my way around the side of the school, heading to the back. I like to think I officially have Halloween under control. People like to throw eggs and pull other pranks at Halloween but they get impatient, if they can't find a good enough victim they will leave, boredom setting in and off they go to cause havoc someplace else. All I had to do was wait. So I wondered around the back of the school building, keeping an eye out to make sure nobody was around and would catch me hiding away because let's face it that's what I was doing, I was hiding.
About 10 minutes later everyone was gone and it was safe to drive home without any inconveniences on my part. This happened every year to the point where I have it down to a tee, if I do say so myself.
Anyway I should probably tell you a bit about myself, huh? Well my name is Lucas Brown and I'm 18 years old in the last year of high school. I'm what people would call a bully magnet. I'm skinny, a huge dork and to top it all off I wear glasses. Yep, I may as well just tattoo Dork on my forehead. I have brown hair and blue eyes, I guess I'm kind of cute...maybe if you squint a little? Sigh. I'm 5"6 and I hate it, why must my creator do this to me? Like come on, what exactly was you going for here?
My house was just a regular house, nothing fancy or extravagant, just simple. I liked it that way, it was my home. And inside my home lived my mother and father, they were good people, not uptight like most and were really understanding, never judging me for anything...well almost anything...but let's not talk about that. I loved them both dearly even if they did smoother me a bit too much. Just don't get on their bad side and your goo-
"LUCAS!"
-GULP- Uh oh...
Urggghhh. Okay so get this, my family is really close so we get visitors all the time. Thanksgiving is hectic in this house, I honestly had no idea my family was that big. So my cousins are coming down, they'll be arriving tomorrow morning. My auntie has been called in to work on Halloween and she promised the kids they'd go trick or treating but now because she's working she can't take them herself. So...and you're going to want to hear this, this is the best part...they asked my parents if I'd take them. Me! And you know what they said?
-clears throat- Of course, Lucas would love to take them trick or treating. It'd be nice for them to connect more, Lucas is such an introvert this will be good for him too and I'm sure he'll have tons of fun!
And NOW I'm STUCK with taking my annoying cousins trick or treating. Let me tell you a bit about my cousins; A boy and a girl, twins, evil. That's pretty much all you need to know.
This sucks! So much for cuddling up in bed eating candy and watching scary movies. Now I've got to communicate with earthlings and follow around the double-devil while they collect delicious treats while I stand behind with a whole lot of nothing. Bitter, that's how I feel right now.
So they'll be arriving early tomorrow and they better not be expecting me to dress up because it's not happening. Not that I have anything to wear anyway...hmm maybe I could wear a mask so people won't recognize me? Sigh, whatever. I really don't want to stress over this right now.
So instead I parked my butt in front of the TV, my back pressed up against the side of the bed and turned on my PlayStation. My plan was to drown my sorrows in video games, that always made me feel better. But as I sit there mashing buttons on my controller a thought crossed my mind. Tomorrow was Halloween and I was not in the slightest bit prepared.
***The Next Day***
"LUCAS!" ..... "LUCAS!" ........... "LUCAS!"
"What?!"
"Get up! You're cousins will be here soon"
"Nurffughh"
"Get up!" The sudden coldness was unexpected as my mother pulled the blankets from my body. She was so lucky I don't sleep naked.
"I'm up! I'm up!" I dragged myself to the bathroom, closing the door and locking it. Man, my mother was crazy sometimes. I can't deal with that first thing in the morning. Avoiding the temptation to go back to sleep on the floor of the bathroom, I pulled my clothes off and stepped into the shower.
Urgh Halloween, I am not ready.
I ended up taking an extra long shower just to drag out my freedom as much as possible. You may think I'm over exaggerating but you haven't met the twins yet. Eventually I had to get out and now here I am standing in a towel in the middle of my room debating running away. I could write a note so they wouldn't come looking for me, all I'd have to do is climb down the gutter pipe that hung beside my bedroom window, then all I had to do was run. It was be eas-
"LUCAS!"
Damn! Okay, maybe next time. After putting on my underwear I pulled on a pair of jeans and a weeping angels shirt, it seems fitting for Halloween. A pair of socks, my vans and a hair style later I was ready, well physically anyway. Mentally I was still asleep.
I run my fingers through my hair, staring at my own reflection.
"You can do thi-"
"LUCAS!"
"COMING!" Urgh let me prepare myself first, jeez woman!
Sighing one last time, I headed for the door and made my way downstairs.
"Lucas, honey! You're looking well"
"Thanks Aunt Cheryl" I like my aunt, she's a nice woman but sometimes she seems too happy. Why so happy? I want what she's on.
My mum, dad, aunt and twin cousins were sitting around the dining room table eating breakfast. The time was currently 8:30 am and a chill was in the air. The twins were too busy arguing over who's going to get the most candy, the odds were they'd both get the same amount of candy because they'll be going to the same doors and their twins. Did I ever tell you how old they were? No? Oh, well they're 9.
I slipped into my seat at the table, staying silent and wishing I was invisible. For now the twins were distracted but that wouldn't last long and then I'll have to deal with them all over me like the little double-demons they are. But for now I enjoyed eating my breakfast like a ghost. Quiet and invisible.
Unfortunately that didn't last long but I'll take as long as I can get. The twins stopped arguing, making me look up from my plate to see them both staring at me with matching smirks.
-GULP-
"Good Morning, Lucas!" They said in unison, something they knew I found creepy. I know I shouldn't be scared of a couple of 9 year olds but I swear they're evil.
"Morning" I grumbled, looking back down at my plate. Great, now I've lost my appetite.
My aunt left about 1pm, it is now 2pm and I'm standing in front of my mother in her bedroom, begging her not to make me do this. I've not made much progress.
"Please mum"
"No Lucas, I agreed you'd take the twins trick or treating. I can't just go back on my word just because you don't want to, they'll be crushed."
"Then you take them!"
"I can't, I have stuff needed to be done here."
"Like what?"
"Lucas, please? Just do this one thing for me, you'll only have to take them around the neighborhood. You'll be done in an hour tops and you can have the candy that is left over here"
Sigh. Urgh she knows me too well, how could I turn down free candy?
"Urgh fine! But tell them to behave for me, I swear they're evil"
"They're kids, all kids are evil. I'll throw a word in, though"
I'd lost....to candy. Damn you delicious treats. How could I ever decline such a thing?
So for the next few hours I tried my best to hype myself up for Halloween but it just wasn't possible. I didn't want to do this, but I would, for my mum....and candy. Urgh! My mental debate lead to another video game therapy session, they surprisingly work. And I was soon so consumed in my game that the later nights events were completely wiped from my mind. See, I'll be fine.
***A Few Hours Later***
It was about 5pm when children started knocking on our door asking for candy, my mum answered to each one with a smile, offering out candy and complementing their costumes. The twins were bouncing up and down in excitement, licking their lips as they talked about all the delicious candy they were going to get.
"Lucky sons of bitc-"
"Lucas, honey. Can you get the kids Halloween buckets please?"
Halloween buckets? Oh those thing the candy goes into? Right they've both got pumpkin ones that I'm sure their parents thought were oh so adorable.
I grabbed them both from the cupboard, handing them to the evils and made my way to the kitchen. I grabbed a soda from the fridge, popping the tab and taking a swig. Ah taste the chemical burn.
"Can we go soon?"
"It's not even dark yet" I didn't want to go out there when it was still light, what if someone saw me?"
"Lucas, don't leave it too late! Remember they're still kids"
"I know, I know"
Sigh "Are you both ready?"
"Yes" They said simultaneously. -shudders-
They were dressed as a witch and a wizard. The image was actually pretty adorable but I didn't fall for it, I knew the truth.
"Alright give me a minute and we'll go."
I sprinted up the stairs and into my room, this is a bad idea but I couldn't back out now. Maybe I could do something to blend in? Hmm I've always wondered what mascara would look like on me...no, no, terrible idea, I mean what if someone from school were to see me? They'd think the worst. Sigh, I guess I'll just go like this. It was chilly outside so there was no way I could go out in just a shirt. I grabbed my superman hoodie and pulled it over my head, leaving the hood up.
"It's only for an hour, you can do this"
I ran down the stairs and made my way back into the kitchen where the twins were jumping up and down in excitement.
"Alright let's go"
"Yay!!" I suddenly got attacked by two doubles. And by attacked I mean one was pulling on my leg, the other on my arm.
"But you have to let go of me first" As if I'd just spoken the magic words they both pulled away and stood in front of me, smiling innocently.
"Millie, Michael. Come here a second"
"Alright, you two behave for Lucas, okay? He was kind enough to agree to take you guys so be nice to him and listen to what he says, he's in charge now, understood?"
"Yes!"
"Good, now go have fun and bring back loads of candy"
They both ran to the door holding hands, their pumpkin buckets in their other hand.
"Thank you for this, Lucas"
"Sure" I faked a smile, shuffling my way to the door.
I can get through this, just an hour with the twins going door to door collecting candy. Then I can come home and do what I originally planned. Welp!
Let the fun begin!
