A month had gone by and I’m still stuck here.

Even the food seemed to dislike the idea of me being around.

I was lying on my bed, as usual, when I heard the door opened and closed.

‘I see you’ve finished your breakfast.’

Allison noticed.

‘Was Katgood today?’

‘Well, she’s good. But the food isn’t.’

I complained.

Kat was an intern at the hospital and mainly, her job was to help the nurses and assist the patients.

She helps me walk, pushes my wheelchair, helps me change my clothes, jokes around a lot, gives snide inappropriate opinions to everyone she sees, annoyingly sings me to sleep even if I really could sleep better and easier if she shut the hell up, and feeds me.

In short, she was my guardian angel in this hell.

She and Allison were the closest I have as friends.

Who knew you could have friends in hell, right?

The first week I’ve been here, they made me play a guessing game to calm me down a bit since I was new to this sort of ambience.

I had to guess what they look like just by their voices.

I guessed Allison right, a slim mid-20s blonde gal with blue eyes and snow white skin.

But she corrected me with her eyes.

She said they aren’t normal.

I asked if she had three of them.

She laughed and admitted they were bigger than usual.

I just laughed and wished I could see them.

I bet they’re unique, as she says.

But when it came to Kat, I was all wrong.

I’ve expected her to be black.

But she said she was absolutely the opposite, although she admits she feels like that sometimes.

As it turns out, she’s a Caucasian ‘curvy lady’, as she calls herself.

She convinced me that she was not plump or anything, she just has a Christina Aguilera-ish figure.

Shealso said she was a goth or an emo back in high school and college and a part of her still is until now.

Heavy eye makeup and dyed hair, she told me.

I admitted I was surprised because her voice was very calm and confident, far from what I’ve imagined goth girls talk.

I felt Allison removing the used plates and spoons and glasses away from me.

Hearing a familiar sound, I knew she was scribbling down notes, updating my condition.

‘I have a surprise for you today.’

She said out of nowhere.

‘Better be ice cream.’

‘You just had that yesterday, mister.’

‘But me want more.’

I pouted after trying to sound like an upset kid.

This caused her to laugh her heart out.

She always laughs like that.

And it sounds really compelling even in a bad day.

‘But I bet this surprise will make you forget about ice cream.’

‘Nothing beats ice cream! This sucks! I really want ice cream!’

‘Even if it’s a visitor?’

My heart skipped a beat.

And I fell dead silent.

A visitor?

After a month, I finally have a visitor?

‘Is it…is it Greg?’

I asked as my voice became squeaky all of a sudden.

The idea of having a visitor stunned me with bliss and anticipation.

And hope.

And the possibility of that visitor being my brother made that excitement grew to new heights.

‘No. I’m sorry Niall. We haven’t made any contact with him yet.’

My heart sank in disappointment.

And just like that I was gloomy again.

‘But this guy really wants to meet you, you know.’

She tried cheering me up.

‘Who is he?’

I asked but with a more distaste tone.

‘He says his name was Zack…oh wait…no….I think it’sZayn or something.’

Zayn?

I never heard of that name before.

‘What does he want from me?’

‘Well, I guess you’ll have to find that out yourself. That’s the purpose of visitations, you know. You should talk to him. He seems nice.’

‘He better be. I just hope he’s better than ice cream. Also, I hope he’s not a vampire or something. I hate people like that.’

‘Shut up! Vampires are cool.’

Trust me, I’ve imagined her to be astronomically pretty but her addiction to blood and other dark gory stuff really scares me.

She gently took my hand and helped me get seated on the wheel chair.

I felt her face drew nearer to my ear.

‘Plus he’s cute!’

She giggled like a toddler as she started pushing me out of the room and onto the hallways.

‘Ha! Like I’ll prove you wrong on that one. In case you haven’t noticed, I am blind. Remember?’

I responded coldly but the warm sensation that crept on the back of my neck lingering on my cheeks failed to comply with my bitchiness.

‘Ooooooh!Then why are you blushing?’

Was I blushing?

‘No I’m not!’

‘Dude, trust me. You’re totally blushing!’

She laughed wholeheartedly as she noticed my hidden excitement showing off.

Oh I wish I had earplugs on.

‘Here we are.’

Allison stopped pushing my wheelchair.

‘Remember to be nice, ‘kay?’

‘I’ll try.’

I replied sarcastically as I heard her heels walking away.
