Yep, you guessed it everyone at school is talking about Ali and her party that hit the fan because of no other than Mackie Denver.

"I hate him" she complains as they're walking in the hall, "I mean I seriously fucking hate that guy, he better never show his face here again, next time I see him I'm setting everything he loves on fire." The whispers and dirty looks were embarrassing for her, the trio wanted nothing more than to fit in. If Ali could be popular sophomore year imagine what she could do senior year, that was her train of thought.

Ben on the other hand hasn't really said much since the party, he is still processing. Hoping he wouldn't see Mackie today Ben got his wish because Mackie was nowhere to be found. Ben doesn't know how to trust him anymore, after countless conversations about Mackie trying his best not to be someone that scares Ben, he did the exact opposite of what anyone wanted. Now Ben doesn't even know how to be with him without being scared by him.

"Want me to walk you to class? Just in case dirty Denver shows up" Jeremy stops near Ben's locker as he's grabbing his books,

"We both saw him take on three guys by himself on Saturday while his brother handled the others, doubt you're anything to be feared."

"At least I'm offering to protect you, unlike someone who just doesn't give a fuck."

Slamming his locker "What do you want, Jeremy?!"

"You're still hung up on that jackass? Even after he proved he wasn't one of us, get a fucking grip before you're on the receiving end of those fists, Ben. They don't feel good." Ben watches him walk away feeling like he kind of agrees with Jeremy, could Mackie really hit him if he did the wrong thing?

Realizing Mackie was never who Ben wanted him to be, Ben starts to tell himself that them not being together was probably for the best, but he couldn't cut ties with Mackie until he got everything he owns from the boy's place. So, after school when he knows Mackie would be at work Ben drives 40 minutes to his house to get his things.

Getting there he sees the driveway empty of Mackie and Maeve's cars so he uses his key to get in, the plan is to get everything and leave the key somewhere Mackie would be able to find it. Walking into the quiet house Ben makes his way to Mackie's room, finding the door open he walks in but instantly freezes. Staring around the room makes him sad because he didn't want to believe this was the last time he'd ever be in it. The more he thought the madder he got though, Mackie ruined everything and that's unforgivable.

He starts to walk around getting the various things he's left there, his clothes, and his blanket he brought over because Mackie's house was always too cold. As he picks each item up shoving them in his bag, Ben is caught when Mackie walks out of the bathroom with wet hair and body and his towel around his waist.

"Ben?" He's surprised not expecting the boy

Shocked Ben jumps and turns, this was a test he thinks as he stares at Mackie's naked chest and wet hair. How long can he last before forgetting everything and jumping Mackie's bones because he looks so irresistible? Ben wants to prove he's stronger than that, "I thought you'd be at work, your car's gone" he says.

"Took a couple days off and Maeve's using my car while I fix hers at the shop. I'm glad you're here I've been trying to talk to you since yesterday," Mackie moves a few steps closer but Ben backs up

"I'm not here to talk" he tries to keep his eyes averted, "just to get my things" he walks away going into the bathroom getting his toothbrush and expensive face products off the counter.

Mackie watches "Ben you have to let me explain, what happened at the party was-"

"Exactly what it was" Ben cuts him off as he zips his bag, "you controlling your anger for the sake of your boyfriend or anyone else around you- oh except that's not what you did and now because of you people are hurt."

"I know and I'm sorry but I didn't bring them there it wasn't my fault,"

"It's never your fucking fault, Mackie! Your problems with everyone is never your fault and I enabled that, instead of telling you to get your shit together and grow the fuck up. Those fists which seem to always be swollen are your problem solvers, and that's sad. I can't keep doing this with you, so I'm not doing it anymore."

"Ben please just listen" Mackie walks closer,

And Ben still doesn't want to be near him so he moves back, "no you know I tried to lie to myself about you when you said you're nothing like your brother I believed you, but you're worst than Harley. At least he doesn't try to act like he's something he's not, you hid all of your anger under someone who thought he was good, you're not good Mackie you're scary." Ben's angry and staring at Mackie was bringing it all out of him "I WAS SO FUCKING FINE!" He shoves Mackie "Yes Jeremy did nothing but cheat on me but at least then I had a fucking life that made sense. Until you came out of nowhere and wrecked it with your fucking motorcycle and smile! Why? Why'd you fake this personality to get me to fall for you?"

"I made a mistake Ben that's all it was" Mackie isn't really sure of how to explain this one, his anger was something that scared him too.

"You keep making mistakes then try to justify them, and that's coming from me a judgemental asshole who had to be a completely different person just to be with you. It wasn't easy for me but I did it, so why couldn't you?" Ben doesn't wait for an answer because he doesn't want to hear Mackie speak. "I lied to both of us when I convinced myself that this was what I wanted, I cannot be with you. I was right when I said we wouldn't make any sense"

"Why not? I can be better"

"You scare the shit out of me!" He barks "does that sound right to you? Be with someone you always have to keep a look out for, I can't do that for you Mackie I'm sorry."

Mackie knows Ben's right there was no arguing him about it, "nothing I say is gonna change this, is it?"

Ben shakes his head "how am I supposed to fall out of love?" He asks confused "I mean I'm still in love with you, but that doesn't matter does it?" They stare at each other and Ben scoffs "oh right I forgot you didn't believe me... well guess what? Keep not believing because I'm gonna figure out how to get over you, then everything will be back to normal."

"What's normal? You and your friends making fun of me, calling me dirty and a killer?"

"I know way too much about you to make fun of you, most of it would be too true to be funny." Ben eyes move from Mackie's down to his naked chest, then to the white towel hugging his waist, down to his bare feet. Ben fell in love with every inch of Mackie, how is he just supposed to just let all of that go?

Dropping his bag Ben rushes to Mackie planting his lips on the boy's, Mackie didn't expect it but he kisses Ben back. They intensely kiss each other and Ben reaches for the towel dropping it leaving Mackie completely naked, Mackie pulls off Ben's jean jacket and it drops. They kiss their way to the bed with Ben climbing on top, as they're kissing Ben realizes they'd go all the way if he doesn't stop.

Moving his head away Ben stares at Mackie's face wanting nothing more than to keep kissing him, but he remembers why he can't keep kissing Mackie and the anger comes back again, and unexpectedly he slaps Mackie. "That's for ruining us" he climbs off the bed, the slap doesn't phase Mackie "I know we have to see each other at school..." he talks as he takes Mackie's key off his keychain, "but I don't want to talk to you" Ben puts the key down on his desk.

Standing up Mackie wraps the towel back around his waist, Mackie knew this day would come, the exact moment his life would become unbearable for Ben. So that's why he isn't fighting for Ben to stay, it's better to know Ben is safer far away then to always worry about someone from his past hurting Ben because they were together. "I understand" he looks at Ben's sad face seeing how hard this is for him, "I'm sorry I kept hurting you."

"Yeah well, I knew you weren't perfect." Wanting to leave before he does something else Ben says "bye Mackie" and walks out of the room.
